Dash Seats, Steering Wheels etc... If it's inside your Civic then it's in here.

#133473 Well I plan on making my hatch look pretty nice, hopefully, and one of the things that will make a huge difference for the interior would be having some nice, new looking panels.

I'll be taking all of the panels out to be painted, but I'm just not so sure about what kind of paint/dye I'll need. I'm thinking I may be able to use some gun metal metallic paint I had bought for my Camaro and paint the hard panels, and just buy some new fabric and just re-do the softer stuff that is on the door panels.

#133474 You mean the cloth part of your door panels?
I've seen lots re-do their panels by buying their own fabric, if I remember it correctly it's called tweed or something like that.

Yes, I was just going to replace the material for the cloth part, but I need to know what kind of material to use to paint/dye the hard plastic for all of the panels in the car.

#133482 your better off finding black interior panels. the dyed panels look weird and fade like whoa.

#135488 why don't you get some black ones on a scrapyard?

#136157 Well the ones in my car don't look bad at all, I was just wanting them to look brand new. I did use that duplicolor paint before in my very first car. It did work well from what I remembered, but that was a tan color so I'm not sure how the darker colors will look. I think I will give it a shot, and I have a feeling that taking my whole dash out is going to be a pain in the arse.

I was about to buy a book on how to re-do your seats, how to take them apart and sew on new material after you add new foam cushioning, but didn't buy it for some reason. I do believe I'll be going back Saturday to get it, I'd love to re-do car seats.

#136158 I did mine with a vinyl spray like the dupli color stuff posted. I sprayed something else before to help it "bind" better with the plastic. Forget what it was tho. Looks good/brand new. 8)

#136161 I went and looked at their website, and it mentioned something about it having something that makes the adhesion so good that you don't need a primer.

So...let's just say I have a little extra primer left over from painting my car and I decided not to put it into my neighbors dog's food tray. Would it maybe do better if I sprayed a little primer on the parts and then did the spray paint?

#136163 You dont need the primer.
Just clean what your going to be spraying with soap and water and let dry. Then spray with the stuff that helps it stick (forget what i used)
You dont even need to use it, you can just clean it and then paint it and it will stick just fine!
Rust-Oleum Vinyl spray paint is good because it actually contains vinyl in the paint to allow for the best adhesion and flexibility of the paint on the panels/whatnot. Duplicolor is good also!

I did not know rustoleum sold vinym spray paint. I went to pick up some primer in a can since I was going to be doing some sanding/working while I'll still need to drive the car so I could temporarily cover it with that primer, and was going to get Duplicolor, but saw the rustoleum and picked it up instead because I trust their name brand a little more.

What kind of store carries it? I'd hate to have to buy from the internet.

Check hardware stores or paint suppliers. just look up some places and call them up and ask :thumb:

#136691 i hate the fact that there is no USDM sedan interior - ordering interior from japan is totally outrageous. duplicolor vinyl paint is the only choice for me.
