Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#193800 Okay let me see if I can answer all of your questions and reply to all your posts!

Thanks in advanced.

you have the basics down...pretty cool schematic by the way,lol.....

as for your charge piping, I would minimize on the amount of couplers you use. try to make it one solid piece from throttle body to intercooler and from turbo to intercooler. sometimes thoe couplers cause a drop in pressure. the couplers are rubber, rubber expands.

I would turn the turbo towards the cam side where there is less heat being generated. catalytic converters and turbos dont get along. you might see the cat glowing red when you start going into boost. Is your turbo internal or externally wastegated?

how are you monitoring and tuning all of this? chipped ecu, full standalone, fuel hack (i mean afc)?

looks like you catch on pretty quick so keep researching for all the parts needed. theres a lot missing from your pic. good luck with the build.... thumb up

Externally Wastegated, I also added so many couplers because I was using Paint and was too lazy to fiddle around with the curvy line tool to get a solid nice pipe lol! I also did notice that the turbo from the pic should be switched around, but I didn't bother.. I was too lazy to redraw another turbo lol! Also I'm not too sure about the monitoring, maybe you can give me some tips and information on that? I hear a lot about OBD1/2 ect.. I am a quick learner lol .. I get annoying at times asking a bunch of questions, but at the same time I will continue researching and won't just wait for an answer lol.

One more thing about the downpipe, it should have a flex pipe section in it.

This allows for the exhaust to expand when it gets super hot.

Next we're going to learn you on vacuum lines, boost controllers, fuel management and tuning :thumb up:

I'm assuming its that silver metal braided looking fat pipe before the cat?

Yes Yes Yes! Teach me about vacuum lines and boost controllers and fuel management + tuning! Hah! Mainly the vac lines, controllers + fuel .. tuning i'll prob leave it to a local known tuning shop =)

That looks about right. The downpipe is generally a single pipe though, it usually bolts right up to the turbo exhaust housing.

I meant to fill in the gap with the same grey, but forgot. Those two skinny lines aren't representing two pipe

#193839 You don't have to flip the turbo around, either way will work. It all depends on the type of manifold, turbo & down pipe. I have mine flipped around and it's a pretty tight fit on the air filter side, but I like how the downpipe routes.

Yeah I've seen pictures of both ways and the way you did it .. the filter fits pretty tight or something. lol

#224764 Def helped me reading this Ive pieced together a 95% brand new turbo kit through locall tuners craigslist and forums. Personally wouldnt buy anything off ebay id rather throw a turbine into my intake. beside the point but yes buying new will dent your pocket but thatll be worth it a year or two later saying your still on 10+ pounds without a problem
