#209454 Hey, i'm Shane. I'm new here. I tried looking for a JDM B18c but couldn't so I found a cheap B16a from a EK in japan

Engine-
d15b7

Suspension-
Beaks lower tie-bar

Interior-
SiR cup holders
SiR centre arm rest/glovebox

Exterior-
Mugen front lip
SiR fog lights (yellow)
15 inch lenso rims

So after 3 weeks of of the car just sitting there on jack stands, finally got the engine out. Not bad for someone who's not from a mechanical background

Dropping in the B16 tomorrow, then change over the loom etc... fun..

#209456 First, nice Hatch :thumb:

If you drove a skyline, then I'd say you need more than a mini-me swap since you're used to some power

How much are you looking to spend (what can you afford?)

Also, how expensive is fuel down there, just curious?

Looking at spending up to $2000 on engine stuff. But yeah, I do miss the power from the Skyline.

Fuel at the moment is AUS$1.35 a litre for regular unleaded (95ron). How much is fuel back home in the states?

#209515 Sweet hatch, man. I, personally, would go with a B18c... The B16 trans is waaaay short geared and not highway friendly,as i drive about 100miles a day to work and back :(

I heard that the type R trans wasn't much better, but better than the B16 trans.

And Gas in MD averages $2.65...

#211831 Came across this on ebay, so decided to buy it.
It's a B16a halfcut from an JDM EK Civic with only 84,000kms! $3000 Epic win!

It should be a straight fit, right? Any problems I might run into?

#218055 on the b16 swap you will need to convert to obd1(obd1 dizzy, injectors, alternator) pretty much all but the dizzy can be reused from your d series.

With a b16 Transmission i never got better then 29mpg. I Normally average 21-25mpg currently. Granted most is in town. but freeway crusing at 4k wont be very helpful.

A GSR Tranny will put 500rpms lower then the b16 tranny. and the LS tranny will kill your accerlation. but you give you good fuel economy. With the Torqueless B16 I wouldn't recommmend the LS Tranny.

Something to consider as well is if you get a b18b or b20b and mate it to your b16 tranny. It will be much much quicker, have power starting at 2k not 5k and be able to use reguler gas. not premium which is a requirement of all DOHC VTEC Honda Engines.
