they have the same length as d16z6 rods but have diffrent rod journal
d15b rods are basically d15z1 rods that are longer

NO they aren't. None of you have been reading anything I have written. Or anything that has been written about the D15B ... have you.

The JDM D15B is the same block as the USDM d15b7/b2/b8 ... the difference is the crank shaft it has d16 sized rod journals. It's basically a shorter dd16 rod.

The d15z1 has a longer rod (137mm, same as a d16) but uses the same crank as the d15b7, the reason for this is the wrist pin height on the z1
pistons.

Rod/length/BE bore (size of the part that attaches to the crankshaft)

d15b7/134mm/45mm
d16(all)/137mm/48mm
d15z1/137mm/45mm
JDM d15b/134mm/48mm

Is that clear enough ... or do you need to be spoon fed even more.

#211538 and you are wrong my friend
this is a direct quote from chrono404

Rods on the JDM d15b are 137mm just like the D16z6 and the D15z1. The Big end on are the JDM d15b rods are 48mm just like the other 1.6l d16z6. Which means you can use D16z6 aftermarket rods(as well as LS Rods) in it. The d15z1 has 45mm big end's, just like every other 1.5 d series(except jdm d15b)

#211542 Ninja Edit: Holy shit I have been operating under a false assumption gleaned from incomplete information I have been given ... my bad. Every forum post I've seen had led me to believe that the JDM D15 rods were the same length with a different BE bore. Those pistons must be some low compression height pistons to work with that 137mm rod.

Damn.

Research fail.

#211548 nope your wrong again
its the piston that cant be used in anything else bc the wrist pin is 3mm higher then normal d16/d15 rods ill be taking my d15b apart shortly and will show you with pics
rods are same
same length and bore and wrist pin size

#211550 My bad most of my research has centered around the USDM bottom end since that is what I'm boosting. I found out the rods weren't interchangeable and didn't delve too much further into it.

#211551 just to prove it more here are the part numbers
d15b rods: 13210-PM6-000
d16z6 rods: 13210-PM6-000
directly from d-series and majestic honda
anyone else got any more d15b questions?

It's cool. I'm not above admitting that my tirade was based on incomplete information and that I was wrong.

Yes you can use z1 rods, but not D15B rods. Problem is with any piston other than the z1 piston you will end up with it sticking out of the block ... because of the position of the wrist pin on the piston. The piston sticking out of the block is bad.

There really isn't any way to get good power out of a b7 without throwing boost at it.
By jdmjunkies
#211853 i understand that boosting is the way to go but im tired of boost and its problems.

the reason i need to know what rods are 3mm longer is because i was reading on the forum that if i put the d16a1 pistons with the b15b7 rods it will sit 3mm too low and wont really do anything to boost my high compression.

help me out!

#211874 d15b7/2/8's use the tallest d-series piston (pm3).
using any other honda piston will result in a LOWER compression ratio (including p29's).
milling the head can give you some more CR, but introduces timing 'challenges'

#211878 so lame ! i guess ill have to build something on the side
fucking got me heated.
the reason for this build was because i already had the parts from my d16a1 and wanted to do a high comp single cam. i read it can be done thats why i wanted to do it but since i cant find any z1 rods cus those motors dont exist in the states im fucked and just took apart my motor for nothing
