D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#216399 I have tested the CKP, upper right coner on the crank gear.
I removed the connector of the CKP on a same engine, differnt year,
the car starts and run, the engine light will come on while the car is running.

with that test, you can rule out the CKP sensor will prevent spark. Since
the same engine will run with the CKP sensor being disconnected.

I did this test to rule out the CKP sensor, difficult removing the pulley bolt.
I would like to avoid that unless an absolute is required.

I will swap the harness and see how things go.

As I stand, NO SPARK IS PRESENT.

#216423 I noticed you said that dizzy is good. Are you sure that the cap and rotor for the dizzy are both good? You could have a fresh dizzy straight from honda with guts that are all in perfect condition, but if the cap and rotor are bad then you aren't going to get any spark.

#216818 Check the module in the dizzy. if it's a weak spark it wont start...

#216843 worked on it over the weekend.

Testing from the distributor power wire ( black / yellow) wire is comming from the Ignition switch. ( testing with key on II and crank conditon.)

Found that I am only getting 7.6 volts of power ( black/yellow wire ) to the distributor while the car is cranking. 12.12 Volts with key to acessories II.

I have test Two other civics and they both showed 11.5 and over
while cranking. and 12.5 volts and over with key to acessories II.

Question.

Is 7.6 volts to the distributor, enough to fire the icm and the igniter.

what can cause the voltage drop coming from the ignition switch.

thanks for all the comments.

#216861 i cannot answer your question, but if it is lower than it should be i would think thats a good possibility as to why you are not getting spark.

I assume your alternator is good because your car cranks fine..so that would lead me to assume a curroded wire somewhere might be your culpret.

Anyone else feel free to chime in.

#218946 Car started.

Ignition coil burned down. found 3 shorted wires on engine harness,
wires running from the ecu to the dizzy.

#218968 Ah. glad you got that resolved. Also, make sure you hit the harness connectors with some electrical lub. It is a white plaste as i remember, and i believe you can get them at your local audio store.
