- Wed Feb 20, 2008 9:22 pm #43187 the 1.6l vetec motor is a decent engine with some upgrades, i would start with basic tune up stuff, perhaps an exaust system upgrade, maybe cam, injectors. tranny swaps from auto to manual i belive would require a significant amount of work but can be done, might as well get an after market flywheel and clutch while your there. engine swaps, well the be series would be the cheapest and the easier of any swap. k series is a nice swap but costs alot of dough and requires alot more work. maybe some brake upgrades/ suspension? Jdm goodies? just some ideas.

- Wed Feb 20, 2008 9:38 pm #43195 i dont have any pics yet but its just a stock ex with nothing done to it i got it from an older man it has 191k miles what suspension upgrades are worth the money and fairly cheap btw i live in a town with alot of pot holes and steep driveways so i cant make it too low

- Wed Feb 20, 2008 9:49 pm #43202 stay away from the "ebay" brands and you will be OK. Expect to spend $350-500 for some decent-good name brand stuff, less if you come across a good deal.

You could do complete coilovers, or buy new aftermarket struts and new lowering springs separately. Putting lowering springs on your oem struts will kill them quickly and then the ride quality will be bad and bouncy like a hoopty. Since you won't be going too low, there's no need for a camber kit. Just get an alignment after everything is installed and the springs have had a couple of days to settle.

You'll love how well civics handle after they're lowered. After that you'll probably want some wider 15" wheels/tires to take full advantage of the cornering capabilities. All the above will help the looks of your car too so you're knocking out the looks and handling with one punch :thumb:

- Wed Feb 20, 2008 9:58 pm #43207 thanks alot i really need the helpwith this stuff i also have a ? about this noise im hearing i think its the bushings its a loud rough sqeeking noise i know its not the cv joint or axles but it only happens when im going slow and turning or braking and accelerating any suggestions on what to do with that is there better aftermarket ones? or just go stock oh and do test pipes really work that great???
