- Mon May 12, 2008 10:15 pm #54932 Try and get it off with a gator grip. Dont worry this wont be its only use. I use mine all the time. Saves me from having a whole box of sockets when working!!

Im extremely unpatient :weee: . I would just try and drill it out. Your replacing the stud anyways right?. I would drill a hole in the center of the stud. Then gradually move up with larger bits until its gone. Just dont slip. bye bye nice wheel finish :shock:

The gator grips wouldnt have worked in my case - have a look at the photo of the nut in my wheel, cant get anything over it :(

I did what Derek said - smashed the crappy cap off and undid the 32mm nut so that the stub axle came off, then ground off the stud from the back. Had to replace the stud and cap but they were only £7 i think - didnt damage my wheel at all though :thumb:
